The voices in support of freedom…of equality for all…come in many forms. Now, the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus — one of the first and finest such choruses in the world — launches its 33rd season by sponsoring the inaugural season of its new sister chorus, the Atlanta Women’s Chorus. The choruses are also announcing the launch of the annual AGMC fall fundraising campaign, $33k in 33 Days, which will now support both organizations and will hopefully well-exceed that goal.
From a Test to a Chorus
Conducted by noted singer, director and music instructor Melissa T. Arasi, PhD, supervisor of performing arts including general/choral music, theatre and dance for the Cobb County School District, the AWC began as the “Atlanta Women’s Project” last January to assess interest.
June 7, 2014 – ATLANTA WOMEN’S CHORUS
A mother, daughter or sister. All women are at least one. The relationships women share with immediate family are explored in this concert that will feature a remarkably wide range of amazing music, from a classic setting of “Ave Maria” to songs of sisterhood, motherhood and children. The women of the AWC are already among the most diverse of any vocal ensemble in Atlanta, and the passion and expertise they bring to this music will be celebrated in the final concert of their debut season.
